Hi-Fructose recently visited the studio of Philadelphia based artist Jeremy Hush as he finishes up his new works for ‘At A Loss For Words’ opening on September 29th in the project room at Thinkspace.
“Working in ball-point pen and an autumnal color palette, the new works explore themes of decay and rebirth, as his strange beauties double as vessels as birds and other wildlife find homes between their rib and jaw bones. Tangles of overgrown natural elements converge with rusted skeleton keys and clockwork parts, an interesting marriage between nature and machinery that provides a nuanced back drop for his ghostly figures.” – Hi-Fructose

“An avid reader of philosophy, San Francisco-based painter Adam Caldwell is currently wrapping up a new series of paintings that visualize disaster. Though they depict literal explosions, war scenes and other maladies, the works allude to disasters of the metaphysical sort. For this series, Caldwell took an interest in Western culture’s conception of the mind and the body as two separate entities, painting the interiors of mental hospitals with a pastiche of pop culture artifacts and historical tidbits. The violent, busy works point to what the artist believes is a chaos that results from the artificial partition our culture creates in the human identity.” – HiFructose.com

New works from Adam Caldwell and Brett Amory
Opens this Sat, August 4th at Thinkspace
Recently headed downtown to catch up with artist Matt Doust and check out some of his new works coming to life. We just debuted Doust’s work at the Affordable Art Fair this past January and received a huge reaction, selling both of his new works for the fair almost immediately.
Matt Doust was born in 1984 in Santa Monica, California. He grew up in Perth, Australia. In July 2011, he moved back to Los Angeles where he now lives and works.
Doust was named a finalist in 2011 for Australia’s prestigious Archibald Prize.
Check out some add’l works from Doust here:
Look for new work from Matt Doust to be profiled in our upcoming Picks of the Harvest 2012 (March), Synergy (May in SF) and Wild At Heart (May) group shows in the year ahead with a major 2-person exhibition to follow in 2013.

Coming up on March 3rd we’ll be opening ‘Picks of the Harvest 2012‘. This is our 1st group show in a good while consisting almost solely of artists that are new to our gallery. There is some amazing talent on board for this one and we can’t wait for all to see their work in person this coming March.
